Gearbox
This is a design project for my second-year engineering course. My team and I are tasked to design a Gearbox with a 3:1 gear ratio. We challenged ourselves by creating two offset bevel gears for the assembly. Since we were told to contain the 3D print time under 6 hours for the whole assembly, we decided to remove materials on the outer shell that do not support the structure of the gearbox.

Overview
Here is an animation of the gearbox assembly. The offset Hypoid Gears are meshing well in this setup.
02
Inside view
Here is the anatomy of the gear box. Relatively simple design which was able to assemble in less than 60 seconds. The design. This design has only six parts, making it relatively easy to be 3D printed.

Hypoid Gear Set
Here is the most challenging part of the design. Hypoid Gears are not very common, and my team and I have to do some research on modeling the shape. We are able to complete the gear set with a 3:1 gear ratio.

Housing
Since we were told to contain the 3D print time under 6 hours for the whole assembly, we decided to remove materials on the outer shell that do not support the structure of the gearbox.
